Web 2.0 Tool - VoiceThread
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is simple; engage students in their learning. Using a tool like VoiceThread can enhance student learning because it allows students to showcase their learning in a creative way that involves technology. VoiceThread can be used with a variety of ages including young students in the early elementary grades all the way to high school students.
ITSE Teacher Standards:
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources c. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
d. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments
2. Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments

How to use this tool:
VoiceThread is a fabulous tool to use in the classroom. It is simple, straight forward, and easy to implement with students of any age. Click here for a quick jumpstart Tutorial (mainly for teachers, or older students).
The tool can be explored in 8 simple steps:
1. If using an iPad search the app store for VoiceThread. If using a laptop or computer go straight to VoiceThread
2. Download the app or sign up for a free account
3. Click on the Create button
4. Upload one image at a time
5. Save!
6. Record a sound or video to go along with each image
7. Add more images & sounds (as many as you would like)
8. Save (again!) & share through email
When to use this tool in the classroom:
There are a variety of ways you can use VoiceThread in your classroom.

-Kick off the school year and introduce yourself to the students
-A hook to introduce new units to students
-To give parents a sneak peek into your classroom and what expectations you have for their students.
-To wrap up a unit and be a class wide share out of newly learned information
